The J. Peter Block Companies, a leading preserver of fine historic properties, wanted to see El Cortez brought back to it’s original, correct appearance. Several bad additions and updates over the decades altered the elegant lines of the historic tower. In sweeping away this architectural vandalism, the builders made room to update the interior with the latest technology. This was no small task, since El Cortez hadn’t been a hotel since 1978.
